Mac
8 years old
Blue Tick Hound/Pointer mix
Mac (aka BigMac, Macadoodle, Macron, Mackie)
Is the sweetest dog to walk this earth. For a dog with limited training, Mac is picking up on commands quickly.
Incredibly well behaved, affectionate and playful. Mac doles out love to any dog, child or adult available. He especially LOVES children and is *the best cuddler,* bar none.
Mac has heartworm and takes his twice daily medication without issue. He is set to receive his first injection at the end of November and the final two at the end of December. He also takes a monthly medication for the next year to treat this disease. Mac is partially blind, it is not known whether it will continue to worsen as he ages or not. That said, it does not stop or slow down Mac.
If you were not told he was "sick" or seeing impaired you probably wouldn't notice! Mac's tells for his reduced sight are his giant dialated pupils, lightly bumping into things and barking in the wrong direction when trash talking the resident dogs into play fighting.
Mac is highly food motivated and has tried to counter surf, but he responds well to his name being called and redirection.
He is learning leash manners and needs a home that will embrace his hound/pointer nose. Understanding his breed's strengths and quirks will go miles into training and supporting this gorgeous boy.
Mac needs stuffed toys. It is a serious need. He must have all the stuffed toys and sometimes he tries to help himself to children's toys. The foster home's children have now learned the importance of cleaning their rooms and Mac gives up the toys easily.
He has quite a bit of energy, giving the resident five and six year old dogs a run for their money. He readily engages in or initiates play, and is submissive to dogs of all age, size and sex.
Mac tried to chase and catch a cat prior to coming to this current foster home. It would not be adviseable to have him in a home with small non-canine animals.
Mac has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm treated vet checked and treated with flea and tick prevention.
