Mabel's Story
Mabel is a 5.5-year-old spayed female German Shorthaired Pointer who weighs about 50 lbs. She is affectionate, observant, and settling beautifully into foster care. While she can be a little cautious in new situations at first, she quickly shows her sweet and snuggly personality once she feels comfortable.

Since arriving in foster care, Mabel has been calm, well behaved, and very affectionate. She especially enjoys curling up next to people on the couch and being close to her humans. Her foster family describes her as a “snuggle bug” who has mostly spent her first few days quietly taking everything in.

Mabel currently lives with another adult GSP and a young puppy. She has shown appropriate communication with the puppy when overwhelmed and is already becoming more tolerant as she settles in. Overall, she has a history of doing well with other dogs and has been described as more submissive and playful in social settings.

She is crate trained and will voluntarily go into her kennel when she wants a quiet space, though she has also done very well free roaming overnight. She has not been destructive in the home and has shown good house manners overall. Mabel does pull somewhat on leash but has not shown tendencies to bolt through doors or try to escape.

Mabel knows several commands including sit, wait, fetch, turn, and drop it. She enjoys being part of the family and would thrive in a home where she gets plenty of companionship and affection.

Like many dogs adjusting to major life changes, Mabel has experienced some mild stress related to transitions, including decreased appetite and some shakiness when separated, but she has already shown improvement after just a few days in foster care. Her foster family reports that she continues gaining confidence daily.

Mabel can be vocal when she notices activity outside or when visitors arrive, but she has been polite when greeting guests and enjoys meeting new people. She appears to adjust fairly quickly and has all the makings of a loyal, loving family companion.

If you are interested in giving Mabel a forever home, please complete the adoption form here: ADOPT ME

*Please be sure to read the adoption information page on our website before applying for a dog.
