Mabel's Story

Mabel came to our shelter recently, end of November. Mabel did not take long to show she loves being cared for. She's a beautiful 4 y/o pit terrier mix that we are getting to know. She could be ok with another dog. The dogs need to have two successful meet-and-greets at the shelter, and can go home at the second meet. We are informed she is good with kids too. Mabel was in a foster home. They recommend using a crate for her if you need to leave her home alone. She is sweet and did great going to the vet's office and while having her wellness check up recently.

Please stop in if she seems like a pup you could be interested in adopting!
Remember ALL dogs and cats once adopted need time to decompress in your home. Focus on creating a calm, safe, and structured environment to help them adjust. Take it slow. This gives you time to get to know their true personality, plus for them to get used to their new home and routine. Thank you!

Stop by to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our dogs. We do not adopt first come; we always select the best placement for our animals. Please call your veterinarian to permit them to speak with us for our vet check. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you are allowed to have a dog. If you have a dog at home, a meet-and-greet will be scheduled for the second visit. We offer a free session with our trainer, Canine Cooperative, once an adoption is finalized.

Our adoption fee is $150 for dogs. This includes heartworm and Lyme testing, flea/tick preventatives, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines, and spay/neuter if six months or older. If they are too young, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.

Lycosky Drive, West Milford, NJ 07480
(973) 728-2859
Visiting Hours
Mon - Fri: 10 - 1
Wed Night: 7:30 - 9
Weekends: 10 - 3
