Lyla's Story
🚨 LYLA NEEDS OUT OF THE SHELTER 🚨

We really need your help with this girl.

Lyla is only 1 year & 2 months old, and she has already spent 11 weeks in the shelter. And unfortunately, she is not handling shelter life well.

Lyla has severe kennel/crate anxiety. When she's confined, she jumps, paces and spins over and over again. She's becoming so stressed that she is tearing up her own face. 💔

And then we take her outside...and we see this Lyla. ❤️

A happy, silly, energetic young dog who wants to run, explore, play, get attention and use that busy little brain of hers. She needs exercise. She needs mental stimulation. Most of all, she needs a life that doesn't revolve around four kennel walls.

Lyla came from a difficult situation where we do believe she spent most of her time in a small kennel. And though she lived with many other dogs and cats, at the shelter, she has not been doing well with other animals. So right now we would recommend a home where she can be the only pet. That doesn't necessarily mean she can never live with another animal. Her behavior outside of this stressful environment may be very different, but any introductions would need to be slow and carefully managed.

Our staff gets Lyla outside as much as we possibly can, but we cannot give her what she truly needs here.

The shelter is simply not the right place for this girl.

Lyla is young. She has so much life ahead of her. She needs an active, patient person willing to give her exercise, structure, enrichment and maybe for the first time in her life the chance to learn what it feels like to truly relax in a home.

Please, please share Lyla. Even if you can't adopt her, somebody you know might be exactly who she is waiting for. ❤️🐾

You can apply here: https://lewiscountyhumanesociety.org/adopt
