Luna's Story

A061168 Luna; spayed Siberian Husky mix; age 2 years; 44.20 pounds
Contact: Calaveras County Animal Services (209)754-6509
Website: https://animal.calaverasgov.us/
Email: animal@calaverascounty.gov

Luna has a gentle spirit, walking sweetly on leash without pulling at all. She is a little shy with new people at first, but is not reactive about it, just tentative. Once you're on her Trusted Peeps list, she gets all wiggly, smiling and dancing on her hind feet with delight to see you. She knows sit very well and perhaps stay, though we're still evaluating the latter.

We are still getting to know Luna, but she seems tolerant of most other dogs, if not exuberantly wanting to play with them. She can be reactive from inside her kennel to other dogs walking past; we might chalk that up to kennel stress. Once we get her out walking, shes alert but calm near other dogs.

Luna's sports a beautiful, fox-like coat with many colors and layers. Unfortunately, she has not received needed coat care, resulting in some serious matting, especially on her hindquarters and tail. That kind of matting can be very uncomfortable, even painful. We have trimmed out quite a lot of the matting but haven't got it all out as of yet. She is quite sensitive about her hindquarters being touched or brushed. We go slow to avoid stressing her out any more than absolutely necessary. She would benefit from a professional groom to get all the matting addressed and restore her gorgeous coat to full health.

Judging by how joyful she gets with her favorite peeps, and with her petite size and beauty, Luna has the potential to make a very sweet, loving companion. All you Disney princesses and princes, here's your chance to fulfill your dream of bringing home a sweet house fox of your very own. Come meet magical Luna today!

Luna is spayed and can go home with you right away.

Though we can't make guarantees, she keeps her inner kennel tidy and may be housetrained.

We don't have information on her attitude toward cats at this time.

A meet-and-greet is required if you have other dogs at home.
