Lulu - in Vermont's Story
Meet Lulu!

Who says four legs are better than three? Lulu is living proof that life as a tripod doesn't slow her down one bit This beautiful 5 year-old Golden Retriever has overcome more than her share of challenges and is ready to find a home that will love her for exactly who she is.

When Lulu arrived in our care, she had complications from an old injury that never fully healed. Shortle after her arrival, the decision was made to fully amputate the remaining portion of her leg. She has recovered beautifully and has adapted to life as a happy, active tripod.

Lulu spent her recovery in a wonderful foster home where she was able to enjoy the comforts of a home. ; Lulu has settled into our daily routine wonderfully. She has loved getting to know our staff and volunteers and is quickly becoming a favorite around here. Lulu is an outgoing, social girl who genuinely enjoys meeting new people. She's always happy to head out for a walk and is just as content to stretch out in the grass afterward for some love and attention.

Lulu forms strong bonds with the people she loves. She enjoys being close by and likes to know where her people are, often becoming your little shadow. Although she loves spending time with her family, she settles well and does just fine when left home alone.

One of Lulu's favorite things is bringing a tennis ball along wherever she goes. Whether she's carrying it on a walk, chewing on it while she relaxes, or simply keeping it nearby, there's a good chance she'll have a ball with her.
During her time in foster care, we learned that Lulu thrives with structure, consistency, and clear expectations. She can become very attached to her people, so it's important that she continues building positive relationships with everyone in the household rather than focusing on just one person. She isn't a fan of being picked up and can be hesitant around doorways, thresholds, and elevated entrances, sometimes needing a little extra encouragement and patience before moving through them.

Lulu would do best in an adult-only home where her family understands and respects her boundaries. Like many dogs with an unknown past, she may let you know if she's feeling uncomfortable or crowded, and she appreciates having her space respected. Giving her that understanding allows her affectionate, loyal personality to shine.

Lulu has previously lived successfully with cats and may do fine with a dog upon proper introduction and structure within the house.

Lulu has already proven just how resilient she is. She's affectionate, loyal, and ready to find a family who will appreciate her gentle spirit, enjoy taking walks together, and end the day relaxing in the grass with a tennis ball by her side.

Inquires to info@goldenhuggs.org
