Luke Labrador Retriever & Great Pyrenees Mix Palatine, IL

Luke came to SCCR from Alabama where he was found as a stray. His pre-SCCR life is a mystery but we know he is a magnificent gentle giant. Topping the scales at 90 pounds, Luke is approximately a one-year old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix blended to handsome perfection. He has the softest fur, the most soulful brown eyes, and the sweetest disposition. 
 
Since arriving in Illinois, Luke has encountered much that is new to him.  Given his shy, cautious nature, Luke is looking for a home where his family will help him unwrap all that is new and show him how good life can be.  Luke will need patience and a go slow approach, but once he feels comfortable, he is a total love bug.
 
Luke is a dream in the house: housebroken (lets you know when he needs to go out) and calm – he likes nothing better than to curl up on his dog bed and nap after being outside with the two resident female dogs. At night, he sleeps on his dog bed in our room along with them. He loves to be loved and will nudge or paw at you to get attention. Outside is where Luke’s personality really shines and walks are one of his favorite things.
 
Luke embodies all the great and challenging aspects of a Great Pyrenees – affectionate, loyal, regal, watchful, super-sized, and independent. The goofy, fun-loving, boisterous parts of his personality can be chalked up to his being mixed with Lab.
 
He would love to find a home where his family will lavish him with affection and provide the consistency, patience, and training he craves. A fenced yard is a must and a playful female canine companion would be icing on the cake! Due to his size, Luke may be better suited to a home with older children.
 
In the evening, after a long day of guarding his kingdom and catering to his people’s every whim, Luke likes to relax by finding the most comfortable spot in the house to enjoy a well deserved chew toy and whatever’s new on Netflix.
 
Don’t be fooled by this handsome youngster’s shy and cautious demeanor, once this Southern sweetheart warms up, you will have a companion for life.
