Lucy's Story

Hi, I’m Lucy! I’m a 5-year-old, 45-pound Poodle mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. (Quick note: I’m not hypoallergenic, but I am 100% lovable.)

I came into rescue as an owner surrender, and to put it kindly… I was a bit of a hot mess. I was covered in fleas, my skin and ears were infected, and I was missing a lot of fur. But those days are behind me now, and I’m feeling so much better—and ready to focus on what really matters: loving my people.

And oh, do I love my people. I want to be close—like, really close. Personal space? Never heard of it. I’ll follow you from room to room, keep you company during every task, and gently remind you I’m there with a paw if I feel you haven’t admired me recently enough.

I’m crate trained, housetrained, and currently working on my manners and basic commands. I’m eager to learn, especially when love (and maybe a few treats) are involved. I also do well with other dogs and cats, so I’d fit right into a multi-pet home.

I’ll need a physically fenced yard because I take my zoomies seriously—they’re fast, joyful, and occasionally a little dramatic.

Now that I’ve experienced what it’s like to be loved and cared for, I realized I really prefer not to be alone too much. When my foster family leaves, I get a little anxious. I’ve started on Clomipramine, and it’s helped me relax a lot. It costs less than $20 a month, and I may not need it forever—but for now, it helps me feel safe and settled.

My dream home would be one where people are around often—someone who wants a constant companion, a shadow with fur, a best friend who thinks you’re the center of the universe.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, slightly clingy (in the best way) dog who will adore you endlessly, I might just be your girl.

Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped.
If you’d like to meet Lucy, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org.

If you have questions about Lucy you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.

Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Indoor homes only.
Adoption Fee: $300

Fur Fun Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our dogs are all in foster homes. We require a completed application prior to meeting one of our dogs. The adoption application is on our website: furfunrescue.org. Once the application is received, we check the veterinarian reference if you have or have had pets. Then we contact you to set up a time to meet the dog. If, after meeting the dog you want to proceed with an adoption, we will run a background check, call personal references, and do a home visit. We always introduce our dog to any current pets. The final step is completing the adoption contract.
