Lucy's Story

Hi, my name is Lucy. I am the sweetest, 50 lb. most gentle little girl who is looking for a place to call home. Unfortunately my eyes werent always able to receive the best care and as a result of long term dry eye and infections I am fully blind in both eyes. But don't worry because my hearing is excellent and I'll know exactly where you are and follow you everywhere. My foster mom says I have superpower hearing. Ive been learning the layout of my new foster home quickly and after just a few weeks I already know where Im going and feel safe. I maneuver around my foster home well which includes maneuvering steps to get out to a big back yard where I love to just sit in the grass, taking in all the new sounds and doing my business as well. My foster mom has taught me verbal commands for steps and other things and Im a quick learner. I'm a little bit scared, hesitant and sometimes bark at the neighbor dogs who bark and run at their fence in my backyard and also around some dogs when I first meet them but my foster mom thinks it's just a defense mechanism due to my blindness. But with trust building everyday, I hope to overcome that. I get along great with my foster family's adult children and get very excited when they come over. I recently attended a dog rescue street festival and did ok for a little while and even met a nice female bulldog who I sniffed for a bit but the city, people, cars and everything was a little overwhelming for me. Plus it was really hot that day. I think I prefer hanging in a place where I know the lay of the land and guests come to see me. Pets from new humans are always welcome. Although I don't have accidents in the house I often pee on my blanket in my crate at night. I spent a lot of my life in my crate so I am still getting settled into this new routine. Plus soft things are just so nice to snuggle up with. My foster family and I are working on it. I love my crate and find it to be my safe place. I'm a huge napper and don't mind snuggling in there on and off during the day as well as its my preferred overnight sleeping spot. I sleep in my foster family's bedroom in my little crate. I hope snoring won't bother you, but it just happens when I sleep. Once I go to sleep I'm tucked in for the night until you tell me its time to rise and shine. A little more about me. Im a pretty small girl, with paws like a little bear paw. I let you groom me, poke at me or whatever. I'm pretty chill. Same thing at the vet - I know they are trying to help so I kind of just let them do their thing. My fur has been getting softer since coming into rescue. My foster mom gives me these nice baths and makes sure Im clean. My perfect home would be a quiet house, maybe as an only dog, older kids and a yard would be a great bonus. All I really want is to give love, kisses, paws and just need to know that you're close by in case I need a hand navigating something big. Ill get the hang of it but just need a little support. Im also fine being left to snooze while you go out. Ill pay you back with all the love in the world. Lets get together for a meet and greet. Id love to talk about coming to your house. Im heading for a nap now. Love, Lucy.

Please visit our website www.ebullymatch.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.

Chicago English Bulldog Rescue's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION TAKES THOUGHT AND PATIENCE. We know you are excited about the thought of getting a bully. But before you make this decision, we ask that you have done the following: Spoken with all members of your household and come to mutual agreement. Discussed the new addition with your home owner's association or landlord if applicable. Experienced the breed yourself. If you do not currently have a bully family member, we ask that you attend one of our CEBR events before applying. Double check our Adoption Area Map to be sure you are in our range. Save up! Bullies are not an inexpensive breed and having a solid savings account that has an emergency fund is essential. Rescue bullies are also not a way to get a "cheap bully." Often times rescue bullies end up costing more in upkeep than a bully purchased from a breeder.
