She's spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and ready to find a family where she can thrive.<br/><br/>Lucy has all the qualities people hope for in a companion dog. She's affectionate, intelligent, calm around the house, and wonderfully well-mannered. She sleeps peacefully on her own bed, is completely house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, rides quietly in the car, and has excellent recall. She's also incredibly obedient and eager to please.<br/><br/>Her family says Lucy is a joy to live with. She doesn't counter surf, get into the trash, chew furniture, or bark unnecessarily. She's the kind of dog who settles easily into family life and enjoys simply being part of whatever you're doing.<br/><br/>Lucy loves going for walks, running and playing with other dogs her size, working on treat puzzles, playing with her toys, and—of course—earning plenty of treats along the way.<br/><br/>One of Lucy's most special qualities is her love for people. She adores adults and is wonderful with children of all ages, even those she's just met. Her sweet, gentle personality makes her an easy dog to love.<br/><br/>Lucy originally came from the South, where she was rescued after raising a litter of nine puppies. While little is known about her life before rescue, it's clear she's embraced the love and security of living in a home.<br/><br/>Lucy's Ideal Home<br/><br/>Lucy does very well with most dogs, especially those her own size. However, she is not comfortable around small dogs, particularly those that challenge or react to her. Because of this, we're looking for a home without small dogs and in a neighborhood where she won't regularly encounter them. We also suspect she may not be a good fit for a home with cats, although she has not been directly tested.<br/><br/>This decision comes with heavy hearts. Her family loves Lucy dearly, but they recognize that their neighborhood—with many small dogs—is simply not the right environment for her to be her happiest, most relaxed self.
