Meet Lucy!

Lucy is a lovely, petite Australian Shepherd who is looking for a very special forever home. This pretty girl is about a year and a half old, 38 pounds, and has a medium length, black tri coat with a cute little nub tail. Lucy is housetrained and crate-trained, and is working on her leash manners.

Lucy was estimated to be born in the first year of the pandemic and was found on the side of the road a few months ago covered in filth. This adorable girl was not socialized very well, if at all, with people prior to her entry into our dog rescue. She is extremely shy around new people and in new places. She is familiar with being crated and is comfortable in it, but new places are still scary for her. She loves other dogs and is so good with them, but she can still be very scared of people she doesn’t know and she can be uncomfortable on the leash if she doesn’t know someone. As you can see in her photos, she absolutely wants to have fun, be a dog, and trust people, but she needs time to learn how.

Once she is comfortable with her human, she will snuggle up to you on the couch for pets. Once she gets to know them, Lucy adores other dogs! She follows their lead, chases them in the yard, loves to wrestle, and has a great submissive play style. She will require a friendly dog companion to help bring her out of her shell. She also loves playing with toys, including playing fetch.

The ideal family for Lucy is loving, quiet, extremely patient, and ready for a rewarding project dog. Her ideal home would have someone home most of the time, and another confident dog and a fenced yard are required.
