Lucky

We found Lucky at a small shelter down in the Central Valley. Someone brought him there after finding him in front of a gas station by the casino on the local tribal reservation. When we saw he was there, we made the trip to rescue him.<br/>Lucky is estimated to be 18 months old, or maybe a little younger. He is about 19 pounds. We think he is a beagle setter, or a mix of beagle and English or Irish setter. His soft fur is slightly longer. He has a beautiful coat, with mostly a reddish-brown that can look like a lucky penny or more red or brown depending on the light, with some black sprinkled on top. Lucky has one white paw and some white on his neck and chest.<br/><br/>Not only is he a gorgeous dog, but Lucky is also a gentle angel. He is a quiet dog. He likes to be close to someone, including on a lap or on the sofa. He is good with other dogs, and even fine with cats.<br/><br/>Lucky has been recovering from the shelter environment and whatever happened before. When he left the shelter, he cowered and refused to walk on the leash. He has taken some steps on the leash but will need to become comfortable with it. However, Lucky adjusted rapidly, with the regular dog emerging quickly the longer he has been out of the shelter. He has been playing with his foster siblings and becoming comfortable. <br/><br/>He probably would do better in a quieter and lower-activity home, perhaps with someone who can be at home.<br/><br/>Lucky has been neutered, gotten a microchip, and had all of his shots.
