Lucky's Story
Lucky
1 year, 8lbs
Rescued in the Southwest, surrendered with his friend Lucy by their owner

Meet Lucky (affectionately called Polka Dots for his little spots)! This 1-year-old, 8-pound rat terrier mix is a hilarious, snuggly, loving little man who's currently low energy but showing real interest in play and leash walking — his foster suspects he'll settle into a moderate energy level once he feels fully at home. He's people-oriented through and through, coming when called and happily crawling into the laps of new friends for kisses, though he also appreciates his solo couch-nap time. True to his small-breed roots, he can be a bit nervous and shaky in new situations, but he's ultimately brave and powers through. He's friendly with everyone he's met so far (kids untested), gets along well with his foster dog siblings — one large, one small — showing no reactivity on walks and genuine interest in other dogs, though he can get a little growly if his housemates crowd him at dinnertime.

Lucky is potty trained, still building his crate training, and quickly picking up leash walking and his first command, "sit". His days follow a gentle rhythm of morning and afternoon walks, playtime, naps, and settling in for a full night's sleep, and he loves a good game of fetch with his plush toy duck. Lucky would do best in a calm, apartment-friendly home as an only dog or with a companion, ideally with a gentle adopter — he could be a great first dog for someone, since he doesn't come with complex behavioral needs, though a very energetic household with young kids might feel like a lot for his sensitive side. His foster describes him as an incredible snuggler and affectionate friend who's fit right into their pack — Lucky has a whole lot of love ready to give his future family.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!
