Lucky is a 2-year-old Jack Russell-Chihuahua mix with a big personality packed into a small body. His previous family described him as loving, playful, and always happy, and it's easy to see why-Lucky loves to be close to his people and is perfectly content being carried around or snuggled up for cuddles. When it's playtime, tennis balls are his absolute favorite and he's always ready for a fun game.<br/><br/>Lucky gets along well with other dogs and has lived successfully with both cats and kids, making him a great candidate for a variety of homes. He can be nervous when meeting new people, so he'll need a patient, understanding family who will let him warm up at his own pace and help build his confidence.<br/><br/>Lucky is not house trained yet, so his future family should be prepared to continue working on training with consistency and positive reinforcement. You'll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter.<br/>(Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)<br/><br/>#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**<br/>If you're ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you'd like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.<br/><br/>**Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.<br/>--------------------------------------------<br/>All adult dog adoption fees include;<br/>-spay/neuter<br/>-rabies and kennel cough vaccinations<br/>- heartworm test<br/>-current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)<br/>-microchip implanted & registered to adopter<br/>-treatment of fleas & ticks<br/>-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin<br/>-free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians<br/>Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
