Love's Story

Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement-Kennel License #2617

**Due to Love needing spayed, her adoption will not be finalized until on or after: 7-18-26

Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children around 8 years old, on a kid-by-kid basis.

Could she do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.

Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not "cat test" dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian's Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]

---

Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Love is an energetic and playful girl. Outside, she pulled on leash, moving around without any clear direction. Once indoors, she struggled to settle; while she did interact with me, she often spent time by the door we entered through when I wasn't paying attention to her. Although she didn't seem to know how to play with toys, she enjoyed physical contact and would run around the room, though she could be a bit rough when jumping into me.

She responded well to the cue "sit" and was receptive to redirection. While Love showed interest in treats, she didn't care much for the food that was offered. She remained stable around startling noises but was less comfortable with certain objects, particularly the umbrella, which she was completely reluctant to approach while it was open in my hand. She did well during introductions to new people, managing the interactions appropriately. She maintained an open curiosity about meeting new dogs and interacted appropriately.

---

For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Lycoming County SPCA's Adoption Policy
If interested in a pet at the Lycoming County SPCA, please fill out an adoption application. The application is available on our website: lycomingspca.org. We may require additional steps in our process such as a home visit, permission from parents, or other additional requests. We appreciate your patience as we complete your adoption. Before adding a new member to your family, please consider the following: Many pets live 10 to 15 years. How old will you be? How old will your children be? Is there a chance you could move in the next 10 years? Are you willing to restrict your choice of housing to accommodate a pet? If the pet is for a child are you willing to assume the care of the pet? Children must have parental guidance to care for a pet regardless of their age. Each breed of animal has genetic characteristics that need to be considered. Have you researched the breed that you are interested in? Are you financially prepared for a pet? Consider the following expenses: spaying or neutering, basic veterinary care, flea preventative, heart worm preventative, license, food, grooming.
