Louie! Sweet westie! 's Story
Hey friends! meet Louie!

Louie has a story so buckle up!

On April 5 (Good Friday) I saw a Good Samaritan post Louie on all of the Kokomo pages trying to find his home. She held him through the weekend and the Monday after Easter took Louie to pet care clinic to be scanned for a chip which he unfortunately wasn’t chipped. The PCC team highly recommended us to her to allow us to take over his care and the amazing person actually donated his grooming fees because he desperately needed groomed.

Fast forward to stray hold being up and all the sudden a neighbor of the actual owner was searching for the dog. I don’t know why they waited over a week, but upon back and forth I was able to get in touch with the owners daughter to get what happened and why it took so long to look for him.

Louie is a victim of a greedy breeder selling an 89-year-old man a puppy, yes, you are reading that correct. Whoever Louie came from obviously did not care about his well-being, fast-forward to six years later, and the man is now 95 and Louie has spent the last six years with somebody who did not get him groomed, did not ever take him to a vet, not one single time because he simply could not get him there, and somebody who did not give him any type of training or manners. While I had him in my care The first time, we got him completely crate trained, and mostly house trained. We worked on his little bossy attitude but honestly, it’s pretty common for his breed so it’s not something I’m super worried about. I did end up ultimately giving him back to the 95-year-old man under the promise that the daughter would completely take care of him which did not happen. Louie has been loose several times since I returned him fully vetted on April 17. His owner also fell critically ill and actually forgot Louie was there, so he wasn’t fed properly. The daughter called today and surrendered him officially over to our care for Louie’s best interest.

Louie is:
🌟 6 years old westie (full blooded)
🌟 15 pounds
🌟 fully vetted as of April 16
🌟 wonderful with adult cats and kittens
🌟 fantastic with all the kids (youngest is 6 years old)
🌟 excellent crate manners. Barks for a few minutes but thankfully settles down quickly and easily even after losing our routine for 11 days he has so far fallen back in line.
🌟 so far no accidents in the house but a smack on the butt if he tries to hike stops him immediately.
🌟 learned to share the community food bowl at once and I foresee us having to relearn this with him again now that he’s back. I do prefer an adoptive home to continue to work with him on sharing valuable things with other dogs though.
🌟 dog friendly but he is bossy. He meshes well with 90 percent of my dogs. He only hasn’t meshed with my puppies and I do believe it’s because he knows he can bully them. He fully understands he cannot bully anyone else in the home so tolerant dogs and friendly dogs who like to play or dogs who will simply leave him alone would be best.
🌟 must have physical fenced yard

🌈 the key to Louie being successful in his forever home will depend on his owner. He needs structure, patience, and someone who isn’t afraid to be his boss because it’s been 6 years of Louie being the boss. Louie is a wonderful dog with a stern but loving owner

Adoption fee is $400

Adoption donation fee is $400 which it is tax-deductible and goes towards the care of homeless pets with Unchained Souls Canine Rescue.

To expedite the adoption process you can send us a message at Unchained Souls Canine Rescue on Facebook to request an application or you can email us at unchainedsoulscaninerescue@yahoo.com and we will happily send you one!

All Unchained Souls Canine Rescue animals are fully vetted:
*Spayed/Neutered
*Shots updated
*Micro-chipped
*Heart-worm checked and on prevention
*On Flea and Tick Prevention

You only need to see your vet for a “meet n greet” of your new family member and to turn in their medical records.
