Louie-I26031's Story

Meet Louie-I26031, a male Pembroke Welsh Corgi with a coat color of red/white. His DOB 3.31.21. His adoption fee is $450 + MN State sales tax.
He is neutered, vaccinated and has a microchip.

If you are serious about this dog, please go to our website and fill out an application: https://faerielandrescue.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

We do not adopt our dogs to folks who live in apartments.

Louie comes to rescue through no fault of his own. His owner passed away. He is sweet, smart, spunky, lively, has energy and knows a few basic commands. He is an alpha dog so he needs to be an only dog. He does have a strong personality where if he claims something as his own he will not give it up. It is called resource guarding. But the foster mom does not see that and feels he was never taught any rules and boundaries. So he feels like he can run the house. She can put his food dish down in front of him with her fingers next to the bowl and he does not try to bite.

Since coming to rescue he has learned to use a crate. He has learned to not bark non-stop when he doesn't get his own way. He loves to be pet and loved on but does not like his nails trimmed or going to the vet. We are teaching him muzzle training so that when we need to use it, he will be comfortable and he will not feel like it is a punishment. He gets rewarded for moving his nose into the muzzle upon command.

He has a strong personality and like some Corgis or other breeds has selective hearing with a bit of stubborn too. He is house broken. He needs some basic obedience work as he pulls on the leash. Louie is a work in progress but a very nice dog for the right person or adult only home. We are not recommending a home with anyone under the age of 18. He will nip the fingers if you offer him a treat with your fingers. He is good at catching the treats or picking them up off the floor. He does let the foster know when he needs to go outside. He enjoys outside but does enjoy being in the house with his people too. This dog will require a secure fenced yard to do an adoption.

As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved.

We do not allow our dogs to be tied, tethered, chained or secured on a tie out for any of our dogs. We do not allow our rescue dogs to go into homes with an underground electronic fence system. We don not adopt our dogs to folks who plan to have the dogs living outside 24/7 or the majority of time or living in a kennel type environment.

FaerieLand Rescue's Adoption Policy
FaerieLand process is the following: You can view our pets on Petfinder or the website. We require an application with a paid $25.00 application processing fee, with 2 personal & 1 vet reference along with a home visit prior to doing an adoption. Most of our dogs do better in a fenced area vs running loose. We match our rescues with current families according to current family members (IE: adults, children, teens), current pets(IE other dogs, other animals) and location, experience, level of activity, personality of the dog, temperament of the dog and want each dog to find their Furever home. Applying for a dog does not entitle you to adopt one of our dogs. German Shepherds & Welsh Corgis are herding dogs and need a job. They are not good dogs for apartments or small spaces. They require exercise every day. They require training and socialization to become a well rounded family member.
