Louie's Story

Hello!
My name is Louie! I am a 6 year old Shihtese mix. I have Epilepsy! l came to Tyler’s Rescue as an owner surrender due to my owner’s scheduale changing and her no longer able to pay for my seizure medication.

I was very under socialized when I first arrived, but my foster has done an amazing job at taking me places and exposing me to more of the outside world. I do get nervous in the car sometimes when I’m going to new places but the more places that I go, the better I have gotten. I love going for walks on the beach.

I am a very easy going, playful dog who loves running around a big backyard and spending time with my human. I do resource guard my food, treats and toys but as long as you leave me alone when I am interacting with any of them, I am OK. I sometimes can get territorial of my space and my human when new people come in, but as long as boundaries are set, and I know how I am supposed to behave when people come in, I pick up very quickly and listen.

I am very nonchalant when it comes to other dogs, but I didn’t really have much exposure to them before I came to TRI. But my foster mom has been exposing me to other dogs and letting me interact with other dogs and I’ve done well. I just haven’t learned yet how to fully play with another dog, but I do seem to enjoy their company.

I have a very laid-back easy-going personality and enjoy having a quiet home. Due to my resource guarding, I would do best in an adult only home however, I possibly would be open to children 10 years and older if it was the right fit. I don’t seem to care about cats

I am neutered, microchipped , and up-to-date on all of my vaccines. If you think that I might be the right fit for you, fill out an application and let’s meet!
