Lorenzo's Story

Meet Lorenzo — Your Tiny, Devoted Adventure Buddy

Looking for a loyal little companion with a big heart? Meet Lorenzo, a 2.5yearold Chihuahua mix weighing just 10 pounds. Small in size but big in personality, this little guy is full of love and ready to find his person.

Lorenzo is the total package: microchipped, neutered, up to date on vaccines, and a graduate of Houndsman Canine Academy. He's put in the work and it shows—he's fully potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, knows commands like sit, responds to his name, and happily comes when called (or even whistled for!).

Like many Chihuahuas, Lorenzo is a sensitive and thoughtful little dog. Big changes can make him nervous, and he takes a daily dose of gabapentin to help him feel calm and comfortable. With consistency, patience, and a predictable routine, Lorenzo truly thrives. Once he trusts you, he becomes incredibly affectionate, deeply loyal, and wonderfully devoted—he bonds closely and loves wholeheartedly.

This little guy has a fun, playful side too! Lorenzo LOVES to play and especially enjoys a good game of fetch. He does great with other small dogs who match his playful energy, and he can also live with confident, dog-savvy cats. Larger dogs, however, make him nervous, so he'll do best in a home without big dogs.

About his bite history:
Lorenzo has had bite incidents in the past that were fear-based and situational, occurring when he was suddenly woken up and startled. Being abruptly awakened can be frightening for a small, sensitive dog, and his response was defensive rather than aggressive. With simple awareness—like letting him wake naturally or gently alerting him before touching—this behavior is very manageable. He has not shown bite behavior outside of these specific situations.

Because of this, he will do best in a calm, adult-only home with adopters who understand canine body language and can provide structure, routine, and continued confidence-building.

Lorenzo's ideal home includes:

A calm, predictable environment
Adults or experienced dog owners
No large dogs
Consistency and gentle routines (especially around rest/sleep)
Opportunities for playtime (he loves fetch!)
Patience as he continues building confidence

In return, Lorenzo will give you something truly special—a loyal companion who will adore you completely.

Interested in adopting Lorenzo?
Please fill out a Statement of Interest on the Alternative Humane Society website.

Give this sweet, deserving boy the understanding and stability he needs—he's ready to give you his whole heart.
