Loki's Story

Loki has all the wonderful traits of golden retrievers - he is calm, easy going, gentle and kind. It feels unnecessary to explain in detail who Loki is because as one of the most popular dog breeds, anyone who loves goldens will love Loki. Loki very recently arrived in his foster home but has settled into a busier home than he is used to with flying colours. In fact, his name can be spelt L-o-k-i or Low-key.... that's what a champ he has been through all the upheaval.

Loki is 4 years old and about 68 lbs of dog love. He can be described as Goldie Locks where he's not too energetic, but not too lazy; not too big, but not too small; affectionate but not too needy. He's lives in the sweet spot of perfection and is looking for a home where his kindness will be appreciated and embraced. He does have the long golden 'hair' and will require regular grooming to keep the mats at bay.

Loki was a well cared for owner surrender who lived in a home with people who loved him. Because of his upbringing, Loki is comfortable in himself and trusting of everyone he meets. He enjoys meeting new people on his walks and will look for pats and the expected "ooooohs" and "awwwwws" from adoring fans. Loki also likes to meet other dogs on his walks and like many intact dogs, he does not appreciate other intact males and will grumble at neutered males of his size. Loki has just been neutered but he may never appreciate intact males even after the testosterone leaves his system in about 6 weeks. That being said, Loki is living in a small home with a gaggle of male and female four leggeds and everyone communicates their needs and respects each other's space. He goes on leash walks with two of his foster brothers or offleash field jaunts with a mixed pack of male, female, adult and youngster. This boy is up for anything that his people are up for.

Loki would thrive in a quiet home where he gets to go for walks with his people, car rides, maybe even own his own cottage. He would enjoy a female sister but is fine to be the only dog. House lions are also acceptable and while he doesn't pay them any heed in his foster home, they most likely add a pleasant energy. While he is fine with kids, he feels more like a less hectic, love filled vibe would suit this stage in his life and his transition away from his original people.

Loki is a golden retriever and that alone will make him a very popular boy.
