Meet Loki

Loki
9 to 12-month old Siberian Husky mix, 30 pounds, black and white with light tan underneath and on tail. Spayed, chipped and fully vaccinated. Very sweet and affectionate. Loves to cuddle and give kisses. High energy and still in puppy stages of chewing, jumping and exploring. Very submissive and gets along with other dogs. Sleeps well in crate and will go into crate for treats and food. House-training in progress. Very smart and curious about everything so need a watchful eye. Will sit on command (for the most part). Found as a stray on Nov. 30, 2022, with male Husky about 1 to 2 years old who is named Lobo. Had hookworms (no heartworms) when found but placed on Interceptor Plus for de-worming. Now on regular monthly heartworm medication. Walks fairly well on leash but needs more training in this. Should have a backyard or large area for exercise and play and should provide toys or other items for chewing. Someone who knows about Huskies and their characteristics will enjoy this cute girl!

Hi, my name is Loki, and my name is the Norse God of trickery and mischief. So as my name implies, I do get into mischief, but you must remember that I am still a puppy in the exploring stage of my life and want to know what everything is. I don’t have hands, like my foster parents, so I use my teeth and great sense of smell to try to determine what different things are. The first thing I do is to see if I can chew it and if it’s in a plastic, paper, or wooden box, I must open it to see what it is. I was found with a big brother named Lobo who is very handsome, strong and like me, very intelligent. We have lived together since our foster mom found us wandering the streets in her neighborhood. Lobo shows me that he is dominant, but we love to play together all day long. The only thing that we like to do better than play is to be loved on. When foster mom or dad decide to allow us to come into the house, at first, we are so excited that we are running about and exploring to see what is new or to see if someone has left us something to eat. Once we have done our exploration, we settle down and lay on the couch or at the feet of one of our foster parents.

My foster dad wants everyone to know, that because we are still puppies, that we can sometimes be destructive, though we don’t mean to be. We are just exploring, and we get carried away. He tells us all the time to calm down and to leave things alone, when he catches us getting over rambunctious. He also wants to remind people that when you take on a pet, no matter what type, that you are making a commitment for the lifetime of that pet. This can be up to 18 years. We need to see an animal doctor who is called a veterinarian just like humans do with their child(ren). We need to have our shots kept up to date to help keep us heathy. He said that it’s very important to make sure we get lots of exercise, which will not only keep us healthy, but will also help keep us calmed down.
