You have stumbled upon Loghan, a lovable little senior gentleman who has spent years perfecting the fine art of being adorably quirky, exceptionally snuggly, and just anxious enough to occasionally patrol the premises like hes personally responsible for making sure everything is okay.At this stage in life, Loghan knows what he likes. His people? Obsessed. Getting pets? Obviously. Taking a good nap? A cornerstone of his daily schedule. Unnecessary changes to the itinerary? Sir, he would like to speak with management. Loghan is an incredibly sweet, happy little guy who loves being close to his humans. Hes affectionate, lovable, and happiest when he knows his people are nearby. That said, sometimes his brain likes to open approximately 37 tabs at once. When Loghan gets overwhelmed or anxious, he can turn into a bit of a busybody. He may pace around, wander up and down, and generally give off the impression that he has misplaced something extremely important despite having absolutely nothing to look for. Thankfully, Loghan has a pretty simple reset button: his person. Call him over, ask him to sit, place a reassuring hand on his back, or give him a good squeeze, and you can practically feel his little nervous system say, Oh. Right. Were okay. He genuinely enjoys that physical reassurance and security from the people he trusts. He isnt looking for someone to reinvent him. Hes a senior dude with a few quirks, some feelings, and a deeply established appreciation for naps. He just needs someone who understands that occasionally his brain gets a little noisy and who is willing to remind him that hes safe, loved, and doesnt actually need to conduct another full-house security sweep. In return, you get one ridiculously lovable, wonderfully quirky little old man who thinks his humans are the best thing since orthopedic dog beds. Please consult the following chapters before operating your Loghan.<br/><br/>Loghan is a 12-year-old, 46lb male Golden Retriever/Cocker Spaniel mix who recently found himself facing a pretty big life change. After spending his years loved by his owner, Loghan sadly lost his person when they passed away. With family unable to take him in, they wanted to make sure this sweet senior gentleman didnt end up somewhere scary or uncertain, so they reached out to us for help. And just like that, at 12 years young, Loghan found himself starting an entirely new chapter. Now, we certainly dont think a distinguished gentleman of his age should have to worry about updating his résumé, learning a new address, or interviewing potential retirement homes, but apparently life forgot to consult The Official Loghan Handbook before making these arrangements. Thankfully, Loghan has handled everything with the kind of sweetness youd expect from a guy who seems to believe most of lifes problems can be solved with a reassuring hand on his back, a good cuddle, and a strategically scheduled nap. He may have lost the person and life he knew, but Loghan still has plenty of love left to give. So, while this wasnt the next chapter anyone planned for him, were determined to make sure it leads to something pretty special: a new family to love, a soft place to land, and someone willing to honor the very important senior-dog rule that nap schedules are legally binding.<br/><br/>At 12 years old, Loghan isnt asking for much from his retirement years. A loving human. A reasonably predictable schedule. Regular walks. Adequate booty scratches. Someone willing to accompany him into the backyard while he handles his personal business. And preferably no roommates who wake up every morning and choose violence. Simple, really. Loghan adores his humans and would happily spend approximately 97% of his remaining earthly existence within a six-foot radius of them. Working from home? Excellent. Retired? Even better. Able to take your distinguished elderly gentleman to work occasionally? He has already packed his briefcase. That doesnt mean someone needs to be home 24/7. Loghan can handle a normal workday and currently free-roams the house when his foster family leaves without getting into trouble. He may occasionally join the other dogs in barking because apparently if everyone else is yelling, there must be something worth yelling about—but otherwise, we suspect hed settle in for a nice long nap. <br/><br/>As far as canine roommates go, Loghan is less OMG A NEW BEST FRIEND! and more I already have friends. Theyre called humans. He is initially interested in other dogs and will happily conduct the customary sniffing investigation, but he prefers dogs who understand personal space. A laid-back female who isnt interested in running the household would probably work well. Dominant/confident females and other males aren't his favorite roommates. He isn't looking for a fight, but if another dog gets pushy, he may growl to ask them to back off. He will also occasionally run up and bark/herd another dog who is doing something he has deemed suspicious. Basically, Loghan falls squarely into the Cool, Aloof Neighbor With Occasional GET OFF MY LAWN Tendencies category. And honestly? At 12, hes earned that right. Cats remain a bit of a question mark. He isn't currently fostered with any, although he encountered cats at the groomer and was far more concerned with locating the nearest exit than whatever the cats were doing. Kids? Loghan has met children ages 5 and 7 and greeted them with excitement, kisses, and—as any gentleman would—eventually invited himself directly into the 7-year-old's lap. He enjoyed them, but busy little humans can eventually make his brain a little overwhelmed. After enough excitement, Loghan essentially planted himself in the middle of the room and started barking because apparently his system had reached MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY. For that reason, we think older, dog-savvy kids would be his best everyday match. Younger kids visiting occasionally? Probably perfectly fine. A house permanently operating at Chuck E. Cheese volume? Loghan respectfully declines. <br/><br/>Loghan does believe in home security. If he sees someone at the door, hell bark to alert the household that A PERSON HAS ARRIVED AND APPARENTLY NONE OF YOU NOTICED. Once you actually come inside? Investigation complete. You are now eligible to provide pets. Loghan is friendly, affectionate, and more than happy to greet new people with sniffs and kisses. But there is one extremely important piece of information every visitor must receive: Scratch. His. Booty. Specifically, that magical area on his back right above his tail. Loghan does not care whether you have known him for twelve years, twelve minutes, or twelve seconds. If you possess functioning hands, he will turn around and present his rear end like a furry little valet parking attendant. He can occasionally jump up when he gets especially excited to see his favorite people, but he knows basic commands and gets down when reminded. Speaking of which, our distinguished scholar currently knows sit, down, shake, off, and the universally understood no. You shoud know that this boy LOVES walks. Pull out a leash and suddenly the 12-year-old retiree disappears and LOGHAN: ADVENTURE EDITION has entered the chat. He gets excited, pulls some at first, zigzags around, and firmly believes that every smell deserves a thorough investigation. He is also a male dog, which means approximately every third object must be peed upon for reasons that are apparently classified. Despite being 12, Loghan is still impressively active. His foster rates him around a 6/10 energy level, although his version of adventure is more nice neighborhood stroll and maybe accompany Mom somewhere than summit a mountain before brunch. He'd happily enjoy mild adventures as long as his person comes along. Then he would like to go home. Because Loghan LOVES home. If you're cooking, Loghan will either be asleep underfoot or stationed nearby as Chief Falling Crumb Inspector. If you're hanging out in the living room, he'll be nearby. If you go into the bathroom? Congratulations. We go to the bathroom now. Privacy was apparently not included in the Loghan adoption package. Car rides are another mixed bag. Loghan happily jumps into the vehicle by himself and likes getting to go places, but he doesn't settle particularly well once you're moving. He may pace, pant, or drool, and he shook on the way to the vet. Some of this is likely anxiety, but considering his entire world recently changed, we also think there may be a little bit of: Excuse me, but are you returning me somewhere AGAIN? As he learns that car rides with his forever family always end with him coming home again, some of that worry may improve. <br/><br/>Here is where Loghan would like his official record entered into evidence: He is perfectly potty trained. Zero accidents in his foster home. A fenced yard would be lovely, but it isn't required because Loghan would also do well with regular leash walks. There is, however, a small contractual obligation associated with backyard ownership: You must accompany him. Loghan does not particularly understand why anyone would expect a gentleman to venture into the wilderness alone just to pee. You come outside. He handles business. Everyone goes back inside. This is the arrangement. He isn't a dog who wants to spend hours lounging alone in the backyard anyway. His favorite place is wherever his humans happen to be. Inside, Loghan has proven himself trustworthy with free roam. He doesn't chew things he shouldn't, isn't an escape artist, and hasn't shown any resource guarding.
