❤️ LINCOLN ❤️<br/><br/>We will never know what Lincoln’s life was like before he came into our rescue and our home. We will never know exactly what he had to do to survive or where the battle scars on his body came from.<br/><br/>But what we DO know is that this boy is one of the kindest, sweetest, most loving souls you could ever meet.<br/><br/>At only about a year and a half old, Lincoln has already experienced more than any dog should. When he arrived at the Collin County shelter, his beautiful Great Pyrenees coat was so severely matted that it was completely stuck to his skin. They had no choice but to shave him.<br/><br/>If you know anything about double-coated dogs—especially Great Pyrenees—you know how important their coat is for helping regulate their body temperature in both the heat and the cold. So when Lincoln came home with us, we quickly discovered something...<br/><br/>This Great Pyrenees LOVES the air-conditioning! 😂<br/><br/>And apparently, he has also decided that cuddling in bed with his humans is pretty amazing.<br/><br/>Even though Lincoln currently has very little fur, he absolutely melts when you gently brush his skin. Give this boy a light brushing, some pets, and a comfortable place to stretch out, and he’s in heaven.<br/><br/>And every day that passes, we get to see more and more of his incredible personality.<br/><br/>Lincoln is extremely well-behaved in the house and does not need to be crated when his humans aren’t home. He’s quickly learning that inside life is pretty darn great!<br/><br/>He loves to climb across his foster mommy’s lap, lay there completely content, look up at her with those big sweet eyes... and somehow it genuinely looks like he’s smiling while he sleeps. 🥹❤️<br/><br/>But maybe one of the greatest things we’ve noticed is how he sleeps.<br/><br/>On his back. Feet straight up in the air. Completely vulnerable. Completely relaxed.<br/><br/>He knows he doesn’t have to constantly watch his surroundings. He doesn’t have to protect himself. He doesn’t have to wonder where his next meal is coming from or where he’s going to sleep.<br/><br/>He’s slowly realizing that his life on the streets is over.<br/><br/>Now he just gets to be a dog. ❤️<br/><br/>Lincoln gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages and sizes. He hasn’t shown much interest in the cats when we’ve walked past them on the porch, either. He’s simply an easygoing guy who is learning how wonderful life can be.<br/><br/>There is one thing Lincoln would like his future family to know: he prefers to enjoy his meals by himself rather than eating beside another dog. And that’s perfectly okay! After everything this boy may have experienced while trying to survive, we are more than happy to give him his own peaceful space at mealtime.<br/><br/>Lincoln’s foster mommy loves him more than anything and would keep him in a heartbeat. He’s THAT special.<br/><br/>But rescue comes with some really hard decisions.<br/><br/>Every dog we keep means one less space in our home for another dog who desperately needs somewhere safe to land. So as much as it will hurt to watch him leave, we know there is a family out there who is supposed to love this boy for the rest of his life.<br/><br/>Lincoln is approximately 11⁄2 years old, neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on his adult vaccinations, and fully vetted. He currently weighs around 50 pounds and needs to gain at least another 15 pounds to reach a healthier weight.<br/><br/>His coat will grow back.<br/><br/>His body will continue to heal.<br/><br/>But somehow, despite everything he’s been through, his heart never needed fixing.<br/><br/>Lincoln is just waiting for someone to show him that this beautiful new life he’s discovered isn’t temporary.<br/><br/>❤️ Could you be Lincoln’s forever human? 🐾<br/><br/>LINCOLN WILL BE ARRIVING IN MI ON OCTOBER 16th and then will be ready to meet and go home with an approved applicant. <br/><br/>Adoption application: https://airtable.com/appJNHv8DgBWn7eBi/shrUO1EIkJJahxILJ
