We are thinking these affectionate even-tempered doggies are a Portugueso Podengo mix. This Portuguese breed is known to be hardy, intelligent and lively, excelling at agility and making great companions.<br/><br/>Lily can be shy and submissive when meeting new dogs, new people, and going new places but does warm up and will settle in after a little time. She also may act nervous and hyper in new situations. A potential adopter will need to keep this in mind and go slow, work on socialization, and give her plenty of exercise and structure. She is good with kids and is best friends with her foster family’s two children, but sometimes can be a bit hyper with them. We think a relatively calm, low foot traffic household with no young children would be best for Lily. She may also benefit from another well-balanced dog in a household who could show her the ropes of living in a new home and be a buddy for her to play with.<br/><br/>Housetraining is in progress and so far, so good! She has started crate training and will go in, but will whine some when left alone. Leash training is on her to-do list and suspect she will pick up these skills quickly as she is such as smart girl.<br/><br/>A fenced yard would be ideal so Lily could run and play safely, but if that's not available she'll need lots of leash walks and opportunities for off-leash play in a fenced area. An obedience course is a must with Lily; it will help teach her good manners and commands, further socialization with other dogs and people, and will help build that very important bond between a dog and her human.<br/><br/>Lily is a sweet and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home.
