Lily's Story
Lily #1115

Age: 7 years old

Color & Breed: Red/White Basset

Gender: Intact Female - Spay Pending

Weight: 51 pounds

Lily #1115 is 7 years young. She spent the early part of her life as part of a puppy mill, and now the best part of her life can begin! Confidence is key, and Lily is learning that the world can slow down to let her get comfortable in new situations.

Lily enjoys the company of other dogs, but could live in a single-dog household, too. When she wants to play, she approaches them, bows her head, and gives them a tap with her paw. After years of caring for her own children, she is very curious about “human puppies”, as long as they approach slowly and promise pats. As far as we know, she hasn’t come into contact with feline friends but based on how unbothered she is by squirrels and rabbits, cats would probably be okay.

Stairs (and couches!) are no problem for this spritely lady. She can handle a tie-out but would also love a fenced-in yard (or a nearby dog park) to sniff and explore the big new world around her. A true professional, Lily is housetrained and crate trained. Toys are new and show promise, and treats are about the best invention ever.

If you think that you’d love to help Lily live the rest of her life in housedog luxury, visit https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption for an application.

MNBR adopts locally as much as possible so we can properly support our foster dogs and adopters if the need arises. We accept applications from within the following areas: all of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and other applicants within a 8 hour radius of our headquarters in St. Paul, MN.

Minnesota Basset Rescue (MNBR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue based in Minnesota. MNBR rehomes dogs from owners who can no longer provide their care and rescues dogs from local pounds and shelters. As an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue we welcome anyone who loves dogs and wishes to help hounds live a healthy and happy life. Our organization provides safe, loving foster home, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities while working hard to find them a permanent, loving home!
