Lily's Story

Meet Lily, a gentle soul who’s just beginning to learn what safety feels like. This sweet mama dog has been through a lot, and it shows in her timid, cautious nature. She is shy, scared, and easily overwhelmed in new environments, preferring to observe from a quiet corner. Loud noises, sudden movements, and unfamiliar people make her anxious—but beneath that fear is a loving, sensitive heart waiting to trust.

She’s looking for a calm, stable home with someone who understands that building confidence takes time. Her ideal person is patient, consistent, and willing to go at her pace—celebrating small victories and offering reassurance when she feels unsure. With gentle encouragement and a predictable routine, she has the potential to blossom into a deeply loyal and affectionate companion.

Because she finds comfort in familiarity, a quieter household (possibly with older children or adults) would suit her best. She may benefit from another calm, confident dog to show her the ropes, but it’s not required. What matters most is a safe environment where she can decompress and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place.

If you have a kind heart and the patience to help a shy dog come out of her shell, this brave mama could be the one who changes your life just as much as you change hers.

Mutternity Project's Adoption Policy
We’d be honored to help you find your forever best friend! If you're interested in one of our dogs, the first step is to fill out our adoption application at mutternityproject.org/adopt. That will help us learn more about you and match you with a pup who best fits your home and lifestyle. You’re welcome to visit our Available Puppies page on our website to see which dogs are currently up for adoption. We update the page daily to reflect each pup’s status. www.mutternityproject.org/dogs There is an initial $7 application fee, and another adoption fee once the adoption is finalized ($600 for puppies and $400 for adults). This adoption fee helps cover your pup’s veterinary care—including vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter—as well as food and supplies while they’re in foster care. Every adoption fee also helps us rescue and support more moms and puppies in need. Note: We do not place holds, and adoptions are processed in the order of approved applications that best fit the dog’s needs. For any further questions, please visit our website www.mutternityproject.org ------------------------------------------------------ Interested in adopting one of our dogs? Here’s how it works: STEP 1: Submit an Adoption Inquiry If you’re interested in one of our dogs, please fill out our Adoption Inquiry Form on our website: www.mutternityproject.org/adopt . This helps us get to know you, your lifestyle, and what kind of dog would be the best fit for your home. STEP 2: Chat with Our Team Once we receive your inquiry, a member of our team will review your application and reach out to you for a quick chat or phone call. We’ll answer any questions you have and share more details about the dog you’re interested in. STEP 3: Meet & Greet If it looks like a good match, we’ll schedule a meet & greet with the dog and their current foster family. This gives everyone a chance to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. STEP 4: Adoption Agreement Before finalizing the adoption, we’ll conduct a brief home check (virtual or in person) to ensure it’s a safe environment. Once approved, you’ll sign our Adoption Agreement and pay the adoption fee. STEP 5: Welcome Home! We’ll arrange your dog’s pick-up day and provide you with medical records, transition tips, and support to help your new family member settle in.
