Liam's Story

Let's talk about Liam. Estimated to be about 5 years old. He was turned in to the Memphis shelter by his owner as a stray with an injury that requires the amputation of his back leg.

Since then he has been recovering beautifully at a foster home. He has gained much needed weight after a trial and error of food that he liked and would eat, but will need to maintain this weight now to protect his joints.

He has developed a positive association with his kennel now and will stay in it without the high pitch squelch that used to cause everyone in earshot anxiety. He prefers to stay out of the kennel, but knows now that the kennel is not a punishment.

He loves the ball. Is obsessed. Tennis balls are his favorite and you need to stock up on a years supply because he will eat the felt off. He loves fetch, even with 3 legs.

He is gaining the confidence he needs and isn't letting that missing limb slow him down. He loves touching his human and snuggling close and KNOWS when his favorite person has entered the room. In fact, he will let everyone know when his favorite human has entered the room and will make you feel extra special if you're that person.

Kids... right up his alley. But it would probably be best if they were a little bigger. His foster home has 4 of the best human kids to show him the ropes.

But, his foster family is moving and Liam needs to find a family to call his own.

We would prefer a fenced in yard for him to be able to play and run in, but it's not a deal breaker. He would do good with another dog of equal size or smaller, but not larger.

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FAR/Dog
