Lexi's Story
Meet Lexi!

Lexi is a sweet and loving 3-year-old, 11-pound Shih Tzu who has come an incredibly long way since entering rescue. After spending the first part of her life at a breeder that was finally shut down after years of breeding, Lexi had very little exposure to life outside of living among dozens of other dogs. The world was unfamiliar, and simple things that most dogs take for granted were completely new to her.

Today, Lexi is a completely different little girl.

With the people she knows and trusts, Lexi is confident, social, affectionate, and full of personality. She happily seeks out attention, enjoys playing, and loves spending time with her favorite people. Watching her transform from a timid little dog into one who greets her family with excitement has been incredibly rewarding.

While Lexi has blossomed beautifully, she can still be a little reserved when meeting new people or adjusting to unfamiliar environments. She appreciates being allowed to approach new situations at her own pace and does best with patient introductions rather than being rushed. Once she realizes she's safe, her loving personality quickly shines through.

Lexi is looking for a calm home with adults only or older, dog-savvy children who understand that trust is something to be earned. She thrives on routine, consistency, and gentle encouragement, and her confidence continues to grow with every new experience.

Having had very limited experience walking on a leash before rescue, Lexi will REQUIRE a secure physical fenced yard for her safety. She is not a candidate for tethering or invisible fencing, and her family should always use caution when outdoors as she continues building confidence with the world beyond her backyard.

Lexi does wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys having canine companions. She also does not seem to mind cats. She has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and has embraced the comforts of being a cherished family member.

As a Shih Tzu, Lexi will require regular grooming to keep her beautiful coat healthy, comfortable, and free from matting.

Lexi's journey is a wonderful reminder that love, patience, and kindness can truly change a life. She is ready to leave her past behind and find a forever family who will continue cheering her on as she enjoys everything life has to offer. In return, they'll gain a loyal, affectionate companion whose heart is just as beautiful as her smile.

Lexi is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Spayed

ADOPTION FEE: $375

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
