Leopold- TRIPOD's Story
Meet Leopold!

A regal sounding name for a tiny scruffy hedgehog-looking dog.

He was “found” and turned into animal control by people who seemed to know a lot about him and he seemed pretty attached to . So we don’t know a lot about him or his past other than he’s adorable, youngish, a little quirky but very sweet and funny, and had a twisty messed up leg. His initial emergency vet visit revealed either an old injury or deformity that he had been living with for a while- his one leg had nerve damage and drags, getting in his way when he’s trying to walk and causing abrasions and sores. He had amputation surgery and has recovered beautifully, and gets around much better and faster with that leg out of the way. . He’s only 7lbs, kinda looks like a chiwauzer? (A new name we just made up for a designer chihuahua/schnauzer hybrid. Trademark pending). Or some kind of other chi/terrier mix, very adorable, cuddly, playful and loyal once he trusts. He’s got some of that small dog spunk and can be growly/barky at first with new people but warms up very fast. He acted like a tiny tough guy toward the big dogs at the shelter but is making friends and playing with some little dog friends already with us.

Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Leopold in Northern NJ

Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
