Leonardo's Story
Meet Leonardo!

Mr. Leo is around 2 years old and about 70 pounds of handsome, silky-haired goodness. He appears to be a flat-coated Lab mix, possibly with some Border Collie mixed in, and he is truly one of a kind.

Leo can be a little shy when he first meets you, but once he feels comfortable, his goofy, affectionate personality starts to shine. He loves his people, wants to please, and is happiest leaning into you for pets and soaking up all the love he can get.

He’s definitely a bit of a homebody, but he also enjoys car rides. He has great manners when out in public, although new environments can still make him a little nervous and panty-stressed. We’re continuing to work on building his confidence. He walks nicely on a leash, he shows signs of possibly wanting to be a running partner! He also absolutely loves having his kennel as his own cozy, safe space.

Leo isn’t a big barker. He’ll let you know when someone arrives, but once you acknowledge him with a “thank you,” he settles right back down. The garbage truck, however, is apparently a personal enemy.

He currently has a Frenchie foster friend he tries to play with, and he has also lived in a home with multiple dogs and done very well. Cats are currently unknown.

And then there’s Leo’s wonderfully unique little personality.

We believe Leo may have had a rough start in life. He came to us as a stray and in poor health, and he has a couple of funny quirks that have stuck around. Occasionally while eating, he’ll get irritated with his own backside and give it a little talking-to, and sometimes he likes to argue with the toys he brings into his kennel.

It never redirects toward people or other dogs, and he has actually improved quite a bit. He even responds when reminded to “be nice to your booty.” Our veterinarian has checked him over and found nothing medically wrong. Leo is simply unique Leo.

None of these little quirks stop him from loving hard, wanting to please, and trying his very best to be the goodest boy.

If you have room in your heart and a home for a sweet, goofy, wonderfully unique dog like Leonardo, we’d love for you to meet him.

Please fill out our adoption application below if you’re interested in learning more. https://form.jotform.com/232265690912155
