Layla's Story

I'm so grateful that I've caught your attention! But please read my entire profile & description BEFORE replying to the email listed in the last paragraph... and explaining a bit about yourself, what it is about me that interests you the most, and why I would make the perfect soulmate.

I believe that I'm part Terrier, and depending on the seasons of how I grow out my fur, I can also be part BEAR! I am not a small "Lap Dog" as I weigh a solid 23 pounds. But that won't keep me from being on your lap and close enough to cuddle endlessly. I just turned 10 years of awesomeness on July 12th, am in fabulous health, and filled with excitement for life. I love walks, driving in the car, playing with balls, and am curious & explorative. I'm very loving, energetic, strong, fast, open to new things, and don't refuse anything edible. LOL! I'm not a shedder, and am house-trained, leash-trained, and a quick learner. I'm an indoor dog, but love the outdoors when the weather permits. Plus, I can jump really high. So, a secure, tall wall/fence and large yard are a must. Upon meeting anyone, sometimes, I give love nips. But that's just my personality. I adhere to discipline immediately. And as active as I can be, I've shown my rescue family that loyalty is my specialty. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world than with my family.

If you're familiar with Terriers, then you'll understand that we can also be "Barkers" - "Biters" - and "People Selective." My instincts aren't to like everyone, especially most dudes, strangers, neighbors, delivery drivers, or joggers & bikers who pass by on walks. Sometimes I warm up quickly, other times it can take a bit longer. And although I've done amazing with different types, ages, and sizes of animals over the past year, I do best with furry siblings at least my size and larger. No small children either, and probably a low-traffic environment. I'm not fond of crowds, public gatherings, confined spaces, locked crates, or separated by barriers. But who is??? Also, it's rare, but I can bite if I feel unsafe. It can be looked at as a behavioral issue. Or... it can be seen as a fantastic "Stranger Danger" type of Caution Bell in the form of fur & 4 paws who will protect you and the house!

I'm a special little girl who trusts, with all my heart, that I will connect with someone/family who wants to spend their entire lives with me and enjoy love to the fullest! So, if I don't seem a fit for you, I understand. I wouldn't want to take a chance of getting returned for being misunderstood. There's no guarantee how any doggy will react in a new setting. Sudden change takes time to get used to, especially coming in as a foster and already attached to a home. Plus, I'm not for convenience, nor to keep another pet company while you work all day. I am a PRIORITY. I feel that someone similar in nature & character is going to be the golden ticket for the both of us!!! I'm being fostered north of Pecos, NM and have tons of photos & videos of my time out there. If you'd like for me to come out and meet you, please contact: fureversoulmates@yahoo.com directly instead of responding here.

Thank you, kindly... Layla Bear.

*** By the way: I am a courtesy listing and do not belong to MMSDR
