Layla's Story
Thank you for your interest in me… and the chance to win your hearts with my unique personality! I think I’m part Terrier and Shih Tzu, but can pass for a mini Bear with my many different looks... depending on my grooming schedule and how often I feel like rolling around in the weeds and dirt. I'm also not a small lapdog type of gal as I'm currently a solid 23 pounds. I’m about to be 10 years young in July, am in fabulous health, and filled with excitement for life. I love walks, driving in the car, playing with balls, and am curious and explorative. I’m incredibly loving, energetic, strong, fast, open to new things, and don’t refuse anything edible. LOL! I’m not a shedder, am house-trained, leash-trained, a quick learner, and very well-behaved. I’m an indoor dog, but absolutely love the outdoors during the nice weather months. Plus, I can jump really high. So, a secure, large wall/fence and yard are a must. As active as I can be, I’ve shown my rescue family that “loyalty” is my specialty. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world than with my human.

If you’re familiar with Terriers, then you’d understand that we can be "barkers" and extremely "people selective." My instincts aren’t to like everyone, especially strangers, neighbors, delivery drivers, or joggers & bikers who pass by on walks. But I'm a dog, and we get a free pass to judge everyone. And although I’ve done amazing with different types, ages, and sizes of animals, I've been unpredictable a few times. So, I’m gonna stick with furry siblings that are at least my size and larger. No small children either, and probably a low-traffic environment to avoid any triggers. I’m also not fond of confined spaces, locked crates, crowds, or separated by barriers. But who is? And lastly, it’s rare, but I can "bite" if feel threatened. Yet, I can give "love nips" to show my affection. Either way, I guarantee I'll protect you and the house to the fullest!

If this doesn't feel like a perfect match, then I totally understand. I don’t want to waste your time or take a chance of getting returned for being misunderstood. There's no guarantee how any doggy will react in a new setting. Sudden change takes time to get used to, especially coming in as a foster and already attached to a home. Therefore, I’m looking for an experienced adopter who lets me be myself while also wanting to share life’s adventures with me as a new addition to the family. I’m not for convenience, nor to keep another pet company while you work all day. I’M A PRIORITY. Something tells me that someone similar in nature and character is going to be the golden ticket for us both!!! If interested in meeting me, please contact: fureversoulmates@yahoo.com directly.

Thank you, kindly... Layla Bear.

*** By the way: I am a courtesy listing and do not belong to MMSDR in Edgewood. I'm being fostered in the surrounding area of Pecos, NM.
