Layla's Story

This may seem like a long introduction, but I figure those that are serious will appreciate the details!

I’m an amazing female Shih Tzu/Terrier/Bear mixed with pure happiness!!! I’m only 9.5 years of age and a solid 23 pounds (not a small lap dog). I’m in fabulous health, and filled with excitement and appreciation for life! I love walks, driving in the car, playing with tennis balls, and am curious and explorative. I’m incredibly loving, energetic, strong, fast, open to new things, and usually don’t refuse anything edible. LOL! I’m not a shedder, am house-trained, leash-trained, a quick learner, and very well-behaved as I adhere to discipline and tones of words and energy. I’m certainly an indoor dog, but absolutely love the outdoors in the daytime if the weather is nice. Plus, I can jump really high. So, a secure large wall/fence and yard are a must. As active as I can be, I’m also very cuddly. I’ve shown my rescue family time and again that “loyalty” is my specialty. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world than with my human… and will gladly stick everything out in this lifetime with that person.

Although I'm sweet and easy going with the ones I'm closest to and trust the most. I'm not as "people and pet-friendly" everywhere we go. In fact, I’m very selective. I’m either going to like you… or not. And if it’s my type of vibe, I’ll eventually warm up and even flirt. If it’s not, I’ll show it instantly. I love to act like I’m a guard dog and run down the side of the fence barking at strangers, neighbors, and delivery drivers. Thank goodness I’m a great protector… and don’t hesitate to voice my opinions at bikers, joggers, or other dogs who pass by when on walks. But I’m a Terrier, and my instincts aren’t to like everyone. I usually get over it quickly and move on to other things more important. I’m also not fond of confined spaces, locked crates, crowds, or separated by barriers. But who is??? And although I’ve gotten along very well with an array of different types, ages, and sizes of animals in the past year, I sometimes ambush unpredictably. Therefore, I might do better as an only soulmate, or with friendly furry siblings that are at least 45 pounds. No small children either, and probably a low-traffic environment to avoid any triggers.

If any of this isn’t for you, then I totally understand. I don’t want to waste your time, and I don’t want to take a chance of getting returned for being misunderstood. There's no guarantee how any doggy will react in a new setting. Sudden change takes time to get used to, especially coming in as a foster and already attached to a home Therefore, I’m looking for an experienced adopter who lets me be myself while also wanting to share life’s adventures with me as a new addition to the family! I’m not for convenience, nor to keep another pet company while you work all day. I am a priority. Something tells me that someone similar in nature and character is gonna be the golden ticket for us both!!! If interested in meeting me, please contact: fureversoulmates@yahoo.com directly. Thank you, kindly... Layla Bear.

*** Layla is a courtesy listing and does not belong to MMSDR.
