Rescue abused, neglected, abandoned dogs. Address their medical needs and provide temporary homes until they are adopted.
Spay/neuter, vaccinate, microchip all dogs that come into Me and My Shadow Dog Rescue, if needed.
Find good loving forever homes for these rescued dogs.
Assist small towns in NM with spaying/neutering of resident’s dogs through low-income voucher programs or mobile vet services.
Provide needed medical care for senior dogs with the goal to either make them adoptable or provide them with hospice care at a Me and My Shadow Dog Rescue foster home or sponsorship at a senior dog sanctuary.
We are an all-volunteer, no-kill, foster-based rescue organization.
All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on basic vaccinations prior to adoption.
Dogs are tested for heartworm.
All adopters receive a free office visit and exam by one of our participating veterinarians within the first two weeks after adopting.
We will be happy to loan you any equipment you might need to get off to a good start with your new companion.
You will be asked to fill out an adoption application and one of our adoption assistants will interview you.
The process takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour.
If you are interested in one of our dogs, please email us for an application: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Home visits are required for all adoptions.
Special arrangements for adopters outside the Albuquerque area must be made in advance. Out-of-town adoptions may not be possible.
If within two weeks the adoption is not working out, you may return the animal to MMSDR and the adoption fee will be refunded or may be donated to MMSDR.
After two weeks there is no refund.
The adoption contract requires that the dog be returned to MMSDR if the adoption does not work out for any reason.
