Lanni

Lanni is a young, energetic Shiba male who was pulled from ACCT in Philadelphia after being found as a stray. He is tall, 35 lbs and neutered. At about a year old, Lanni is playful and sweet and will cuddle with you on the couch or bed.<br/><br/>Lanni is dog-, cat-, and kid-friendly. He is currently in a home with five cats and largely coexists but does try to chase them sometimes. He is not dog reactive, neither on-leash nor through the fence. He plays well with smaller dogs but seems a bit intimidated by dogs larger than him. He can be a bit demanding when playing so ideally any playmates would be able to keep up with his energy and play style. <br/><br/>Lanni needs a home with a fully fenced-in yard at least 4 feet high. Like most Shibas, he enjoys sitting outside and watching people and dogs passing by. He also loves a good game of fetch and zooming through the yard. Even with a yard, he still needs multiple walks a day to explore his world.<br/><br/>Lanni has an extremely high prey drive for birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer, etc, and can never be off-leash in a non-fenced-in area. Interested in dog sports? Lanni would really excel at barn hunt and/or FastCAT due to his prey drive. <br/><br/>Lanni has separation anxiety and can be destructive when left alone in a room by himself. He does better when he has full house access but still struggles when his human is gone. He is not crate-trained but is fed in a crate and could possibly be trained if done right. Still, Lanni would do best in a home where his parent(s) work from home or otherwise someone is usually home during the day. <br/><br/>A dog companion could help with his anxiety, so a home with another dog is preferred. However, Lanni has displayed resource guarding over food and territory with the resident Shiba in the home. So, any resident dogs would need to be a good match for Lanni: easy-going and non-territorial. Lanni has never shown aggression towards humans and does well with men and women alike. He is fine with strangers, though can be timid about being petted by them too quickly.<br/><br/>Lanni is food-motivated and should do well with general training. Hes been taught sit and touch by his foster and is working on other commands like down, off, drop it and leave it. He is a master at holding his potty, which is typical with a Shiba. Lanni is nervous in the car and needs to be shown that the car doesn't mean going to the shelter.<br/><br/>Lanni would make a great exercise partner or hiking pal; he is always up for the next adventure. After a fun outing or just a walk around the block, Lanni is quick to settle down and take a nap and is generally calm in the household. Lanni is all around a good boy and is ready for his forever home.
