Hi there! My name is Lance and I have been pondering how to find my furever person and ask – will you be my new best friend? I decided the best way is just to come out and ask so here goes...will you be my new parent, my best friend, my partner in crime, my walking buddy, my hang out on lazy Sunday afternoon’s sidekick—oops I mean can I be your sidekick? :) I want to tell you, I really like people – a LOT – and would love a one-person home. A person who understands and loves Great Pyrenees, and that it is my nature to want to protect my home. Visitors are ok, just give me a little time to meet them—I love my crate too! Oh...I almost forgot to tell you – cats are welcome, I am willing to share you with one or two of those silly little felines. If you don’t mind walking me and taking me out for potty breaks I can be a "leash-only" dog, but I am very good in a yard with a 5 ft fence. I am housetrained, LOVE leash walks, will sometimes sit if asked, but I am a Pyr after all, so it needs to be for a good reason! If you choose me to be your mate, I promise I will absolutely love you unconditionally (my foster mom taught me that big word). I will walk with you to get the mail, lay at your feet while you are watching a ball game or just go for a walk. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
