Do you need a running or biking partner that can keep up with you? Then Laika is your girl!

Laika was born in late June 2023 somewhere in South Florida. For some mind-boggling reason, the home into which she was born didn't want her anymore. So, her humans got in their car and drove her to the Redlands, an agricultural area 20 miles southwest of Miami. There they opened their car door and sent her out. This practice is called "dumping, and the Redlands is a known "dumping ground. A dog sanctuary specifically for those dogs was started and multiple Facebook groups organized to feed and spay and neuter those abandoned dogs.

Laika took basic dog obedience classes and learned to walk on a leash. She also learned not to jump on everyone (she loves people so much that she wants to jump on them). She loves to play with other dogs at the dog park and gets along well with them. Laika loves to play fetch, particularly with squeak toys. Laika loves road trips. She has been to the Everglades and Sarasota, putting her head out of the window most of the time. Laika likes to run, a lot, and trains her every day to run next to her foster on the bicycle. Laika can currently jog up to 3 miles at a time, sometimes twice a day. It appears she will be able to increase that mileage if her forever human is an avid bicyclist or runner. After a good run, Laika likes to lay on the sofa with her human, nap and have a peanut butter snack.

Laika will lay right next to you on the sofa! Do you like to run or bike? She is a high-energy puppy! Do you like road trips? Laika will be in the passenger seat with her head out the window! Adoption fee includes DHPP vaccine, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate) heartworm testing, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, wellness vet visit, one month of pet insurance and microchip. All animals are examined by a veterinarian.
