Laika's Story

Laika is a gentle, 3 year old sweet 55-lb husky whose ideal life would be spent lounging in a yard, charming house guests, and getting lots of belly rubs. She is calm, quiet, rarely barks, and is food-motivated.

We adopted Laika in April, but the noisy urban neighborhood we live in is too stressful for her. She needs a home with a quiet yard and a secure fence (as she chases critters). Laika isnt reactive towards dogs she sees on walks but currently doesnt get along with dogs indoors - though our trainer is confident she can learn this skill. Laika is untested with kids but is very gentle with people so older children would likely be fine. We are looking for owners who will communicate with her via positive reinforcement and patience rather than force or punishment. She cant be left in a locked crate as this is deeply distressing for her.

Our trainer has been excellent and has offered a complimentary 1-hour consultation with her new family, before or after adoption. Laika is currently in the Seattle, WA area.

Please email nwsnowdogrescue@aol.com for an application.
IMPORTANT: Please note this is a courtesy listing NWSR has not evaluated this dog in person and any information is information provided by the owner/other rescue. Laika is from NW Snowdog Rescue

[Deer Park, WA]

Our Mission
NW Snowdog Rescue was formed, effective July 1, 2014 for several reasons: Over the last 2-3 years practically all the Siberian Husky rescues in the NW either closed down or scaled back (due to age) or went on hiatus (due to family situations). So some longtime volunteers felt that something needed to be done to fill the gap...
