Laguna's Story

Meet Laguna, the little dog with big dog skills and an even bigger heart. 💛

Laguna is friendly, playful, and absolutely lights up around other dogs. Chase, wrestling, zoomies -- she's here for all of it! We haven't found a dog yet that she won't play with. She's gentle, patient, and wonderfully tolerant with her canine buddies. Having another confident, social dog in the home would be a huge benefit for her and truly help her thrive.

But when it comes to new people, Laguna needs a gentler approach. She can feel "trapped" behind a fence, behind a door, in a kennel, on a leash, or even just in a home with unfamiliar guests. In those moments, she may view strangers as "bad people" until she has time to see otherwise.

Laguna needs adopters who listen to and advocate for their dogs -- people who understand that trust is earned, not forced. Her family will need to help her by:

* Giving her time and space to approach new people when she feels ready
* Stepping between her and a stranger if someone isn't respecting her boundaries
* Not allowing strangers to put hands out, lean over her, or try to pet her before she feels safe
* Letting her build trust slowly, like you would with a timid child who simply needs nurturing and patience

With her people and dog friends, Laguna is all love -- a joyful, affectionate, goofy little mix (Staffy/Boston/Frenchie/Bull Terrier blend!) who weighs about 30 lbs and stands only a foot tall. She's fully grown, rides wonderfully in the car, and is house-trained (she may just need a few days to learn the new household routine).

Laguna brings sunshine wherever she goes. She'll chase away your winter blues, fill your home with laughter, and reward your patience with the most loyal love.

If you're ready to help this sweet, lively girl bloom -- and you have a friendly, confident dog to show her the ropes -- please consider opening your home to Laguna. 💛🐾

🐕 Dogs: Yes
🐈 Cats: Unsure (try our 1-week foster trial!)
👧 Kids: Yes, with calm and respectful children

Laguna is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm & Lyme negative, and on flea/tick prevention. She's ready to find a patient, loving home that will give her the time she needs to truly shine. ✨

💙 Laguna's adoption fee: $225

📍 Apply online at www.highlandhumanesociety.org

Or visit the shelter:
* Tues-Fri: 12-5 pm
* Sat: 11-3 pm
(Please arrive at least 30 minutes before closing.)

🐾 Ask about our foster-to-adopt program!
