Lady's Story
Lady is a 5 year old Frenchie Pug mix that was surrendered to us because of a divorce. She lived in a home with young children. She was an only dog all her life, until she came to the rescue. It has taken her longer than some, but under the circumstances, we feel she has become much more comfortable being around other dogs. Of course her ideal family would have no other dogs.

She is your typical Frenchie but she has some quirks we have noticed over time. Here is what Lady needs in her new home:

Fenced yard she can run and play in (no apt., condo or townhome applications will be proessed)
Someone who works from home or stays home or is only gone 2-3 hours a day
(she is used to someone being home most of the time)
An owner that has experience with Frenchies
She is very assertive and needs an authoratative owner
She loves rides and walks well on a leash - however, Lady barks at and shows dominance to other dogs while leashed
She likes playing with other dogs but we reccomend supervision at first
She can sometimes by toy or affection obsessive and will growl at other dogs to stay away. She responds quickly to light verbal correction.
All rescue dogs are fed in their crates and she is food aggressive toward other dogs. She should fed in a crate or in a place where there are no other dogs while she is eating.
She is good with cats and children. Even though she grew up with toddlers, we recommend caution with her and young children. She can play rough and it may be too much for younger children.
She shy and first and will take time to adjust, but once she is comfortable she is a sweet affectionate girl who loves being with and playing with her humans.

Note: she does not like to be picked up and held. You can pick her up for brief moments to move her but otherwise she will wiggle and jump to get free.

Lady has been through some major changes in her life in an instant. After spending 5 years with her family, she was picked up by a stranger and taken to a place she had never been; a place very different than what she was used to. She did very well the day I picked her up. Once I got her in the vehicle, she was friendly with me and curious.

Please Note: we will be very selective when considering an adoptive family. Lady's personality is hard to manuever at first and we will only consider families that we feel can meet her needs. . Please take this into consideration when applying.
