Meet Lacey(Paws in Prison Participant)

When you’re naturally pretty, you pose like this...naturally, at ease and totally captivating. That’s our Lacey. She is at ease wherever she is. Maybe it’s the freckles! Lacey is a blue heeler mix. She knows who she is and is comfortable in her own skin. Lacey is not overly boisterous, but she is playful and energetic. Of course she is...she’s a heeler! Lacey is about two years old and she checks in weighing 45 pounds. She’s going to be a great family dog...especially for a family who believes in regular and sustained exercise for the dog. She needs to be busy. So, if you want a walking or hiking buddy, Lacey is ready. Of course, you do need to know that you’ll wear out before she still. Yeah, she can outrun you!

Lacey is in the Paws in Prison program where she receives obedience training. The dogs in this program are trained under the AKC Canine Good Citizen standards and are specifically selected to be family and companion dogs. They spend 24 hours a day with their trainers. For that reason, they will do best in homes where they are primarily inside dogs and spend lots of time with their families. The adoptive family will receive her training journal. This journal documents everything from his entering the facility, his daily training progress, and interactions with his trainers.
