Kong is our magnificent Anatolian Shepherd who has been with us for TWO long years. He has waited far too long to find the loving home he deserves.
Kong is a true gentle giant, tipping the scale at over 145 pounds. His size is matched only by the size of his heart. He adores people and thrives on human companionship, showing an immense capacity for love and affection.
However, Kong's journey has been a challenging one. Living in a shelter environment has made him reactive towards other dogs, and as such, he cannot live with other pets at this time. Volunteers have been working with Kong on his reactivity toward other pups, and we are very happy to report he has been doing very well meeting pups through the fence and has taken a liking to quite a few relaxed and very low-key dogs!
We are seeking someone with experience in handling large breeds, who can provide Kong with the stability and care he needs. Your home should ideally have a fenced-in yard in a quieter neighborhood, where Kong can relax and be himself. City living is not suitable for him, as he needs a peaceful environment to flourish. The Anatolian Shepherd rescue folks have offered their mentorship and years of experience with the breed with Kong's adopter if they would like!
Kong's story is one of resilience. Despite spending two years in a small kennel, his spirit remains unbroken, but it's time for him to leave the confines of the shelter and step into a loving home where he can truly thrive.
