But what makes Koda truly special is the sweet, loving personality he has once he knows that you're someone he can trust. <br/><br/>Koda may not be the type of dog who runs up to every stranger asking for attention. He needs time to warm up and feel comfortable with new people. But once he knows you? That's when you get to see the real Koda. <br/><br/>He is a sweet, affectionate, cuddly boy who loves the people he becomes familiar with. He has so much love to give and deserves a person willing to patiently earn his trust and show him that the world can be a safe and wonderful place.<br/><br/>Koda needs an experienced owner who understands that building a relationship with a project dog takes patience. He doesn't immediately warm up to strangers, but that doesn't mean he isn't a friendly boy — he simply needs time to decide that you're safe. <br/><br/>Koda is a project dog, but sometimes the dogs who require a little extra patience are the ones who form the most meaningful bonds. Give him consistency, structure, compassion, and time, and you may get to watch a beautiful transformation happen right in front of you.<br/><br/>Koda has not been tested with dogs or cats, so any future introductions should be done carefully and appropriately.<br/><br/>He doesn't need someone to “fix” him. He needs someone who will understand him, believe in him, and give him the opportunity to become the wonderful companion he is capable of being. <br/><br/> Koda is waiting for his forever home at the Lee County Animal Shelter in Bishopville, SC.<br/><br/>Koda and his brother Smokey can be adopted together or separately. They are simply hoping someone will look at them, see their potential, and say, “I'll give you a chance.” <br/><br/>If you're an experienced adopter who understands shy or slow-to-trust dogs and is willing to put in the time, please consider meeting Koda.
