Kiwi's Story

Meet Kiwi — The 22-Pound Mystery Breed!

At 11 months old and just 22 pounds, Kiwi is pretty much full grown—and what a GREAT size she is! Big enough to be a sturdy little adventure buddy, small enough to fit comfortably on the couch, and just the right size for someone who wants a dog without having to clear out a second room for her.

As for her breed? Well... your guess is as good as ours!

We see some small terrier in there - maybe Russell Terrier and perhaps a pinch of Staffordshire Terrier, although she is awfully petite for a Staffie. Basically, Kiwi is a mystery mix with excellent packaging.

And her personality? That's no mystery at all. From the very first minute she was rescued, Kiwi was loving, affectionate and eager to earn your love. Kiwi's attitude was basically: “You rescued me? Excellent. I am devoted to you.”

She is an incredibly affectionate little girl who loves people of all shapes and sizes. Strangers? Friends she just hasn't met yet. She's happy to greet people, be included and soak up attention. If you're nearby, Kiwi figures she should probably be involved.

She's just as wonderful with other dogs. Kiwi happily lives with large adult dogs AND two younger puppies, and she navigates the whole canine crew beautifully. She's naturally submissive and will often roll onto her back when meeting another dog, essentially announcing: “Hi! I'm Kiwi. I come in peace.”

She is also leash trained, crate trained and house trained in her current routine. She's smart, eager to please and responds beautifully to praise and encouragement.

So what do we have here?

22 pounds of adorable
Nearly full grown
Mystery breed extraordinaire
Loving people-person
Fantastic with other dogs
Naturally sweet and submissive
House, crate & leash trained
And absolutely no shortage of personality

Kiwi may not be able to tell us exactly what breeds are hiding in her family tree, but honestly, we're perfectly happy with the mystery.

Small package.
