Kipper -- URGENT! LONGTIME RESIDENT!'s Story
URGENT! Kipper has been at the shelter for over a month and he has contracted an upper respiratory infection. He is running out of time at the shelter. He needs a home ASAP!

Kipper is a 2-year and 1-month Greyhound / Pit Bull mix currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. She has been at the shelter since November 21, 2025, and is ready for his new home.

Pet ID: A1236687

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for high risk dogs. The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five months old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.

Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to understaffing.

PLEASE NOTE: Foster homes must be in Kern County. The dogs are in Bakersfield, not Thousand Oaks. CAPS can arrange transportation if you are on the West Coast.

https://caps-web.org/contact-caps/
*No phone calls, please.
