Kink's Story

Kink is a senior GSP (possibly coonhound cross) with an amazing nose who showed up at an over-crowded kill shelter in southern California with such severely long nails that he was unable to stand up or walk. He was also emaciated and crawling with fleas. He smelled terrible. Kink did have a microchip - but his owners when contacted never showed up for him. He was scheduled for euthanasia that afternoon.
Kink has been in our care in rescue for a few weeks now. He CAN walk and loves to canter around our pasture field now his nails have been trimmed. He had a good scrub the night he arrived in foster care, and he stood like a rock for his nail trim. He is a good good solid gold dog.
Kink gets along great with all the dogs in his foster home - large and small and annoying or not. He is interested in the goats and the pony but does not bark at them. His tail never stops wagging. This is one of the most genuinely nice dogs we have ever had in our care.
Kink does have an old left rear leg fracture that was never taken care of, so he is not going to be a good candidate for super strenuous exercise. He loves to wander around the yard or the one acre field and he LOVES going hiking! His senior blood panel was 100% perfect. He is house safe and house perfect and goes to the door and actively requests to go out when he needs to potty. He sleeps nine hours at night loose in the kitchen. Kink rides well in the car and is courteous on leash. I cannot stress it enough; this is a such a good dog.
Kink is in foster care in Oregon City, Oregon. His adoption fee is $100. to the very right home. And, yes, he does have a kink in his tail. It was the name on his chip, and he does know it. This boy is pure love.

Jack Russell Rescue Oregon Washington & Idaho's Adoption Policy
We require an approved application before setting up a meet with any of our dogs. In most cases, secure fencing is a must - exceptions may be made for certain "Velcro" dogs and isolated rural properties, or for urban adopters who run daily. Except for certain dogs, no kids under the age of 6 is our rule of thumb, but it depends again on the dog and on the kids. We have a 2 to 3 week trial adoption period for all our dogs - we want everyone to be happy - and we back our dogs up for their lifetimes. Thank you for thinking of a rescue Jack!
