King Riordan German Shepherd Dog Kennewick, WA

Born March 2019, King Riordan, aka Rio, is a purebred male German Shepherd with Megaesophagus. He was diagnosed and then surrendered to Mikey’s Chance at 6 weeks of age. Riordan eats meatballs rolled from canned food 3-5 times daily in a custom built Bailey chair. He has also began drinking water from a hamster style bottle to reduce his risk of aspirating as he hydrates. Dogs with megaesophagus do have a higher risk of aspiration pneumonia and cannot have free access to food, treats, or water. Riordan will be seeking a home with older children who can understand the importance of not slipping treats to Rio, no matter how cute his little face is. Rio currently lives with other dogs of all sizes and cats. Riordan loves going out with his foster family, walks well on a leash, and is very well behaved in public. Riordan will require continued training in his forever home to help him be his best self.

Like all Mikey's Chance dogs, this dog will come to you from a foster home that has provided loving one-on-one attention, socialization and some basic training, as well as quality food and exercise.
