King Lu's Story

Meet King Lu!

At 11 years old and 50 lbs, this senior guy has had a rough past and can still be pretty timid at times. New sounds, fast movements, barking dogs, cars passing by... it can all feel like a lot for him. But even when he's nervous, he stays incredibly gentle.

He's come a long way since arriving at the shelter. At first, affection and handling were hard for him, but now he's starting to seek out treats, chin scratches, and little moments of connection on his own terms. Once he settles in, he enjoys slow sniffy walks and seems much more comfortable in quieter spaces where he can decompress a bit.

King Lu is very treat motivated, walks nicely overall with only mild pulling, and has a funny habit of walking little laps and circles while he takes everything in. He also seems reassured by other dogs and appears interested in making canine friends, even if he's still figuring out how.

He's not the kind of dog who's going to burst into your life with confidence right away. He's the kind who slowly learns to trust you, then quietly stays close.

King Lu deserves a soft landing, patience, and a home that lets him finally exhale.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet/adopt, visit us in Greensboro, NC from 12-4pm any day except Tuesdays; no appointment needed.
