Meet King Charles 23079

King Charles came into rescue about the same time as the New King of England. So, he was named after King Charles! Our King Charles KC is a handsome 12-year-old Cocker found as a stray in Phoenix, Arizona. He has spent the last few months being spoiled in Cave Creek, Arizona and now needs a Foster in Colorado who will continue to work him through his health issues. KC wins the hearts of everyone he meets because he is so loving and affectionate. If he doesnt feel hes getting enough love, he will gladly head-butt you to demand more affection. He has extremely good manners and you would never know this little lovebug was found as a stray! KC enjoys long walks but really needs a fenced yard so he can go out as frequently as he needs to. Limited stairs please due to his arthritis. Hes very intelligent and trained himself to use the doggy door almost immediately. Despite his age, he really enjoys having an active playmate and hes equally comfortable with large and small dogs. He has been around cats and ignored them but knowing his personality, his current foster believes he would bond with a loving cat or dog. KC is a velcro dog. He follows his foster everywhere, almost touching her leg the entire time. He started out sleeping in bed with his foster mom but once he knew he was safe, he decided he preferred his own space right by her bed. He definitely prefers someone who is home most of the time although having another dog(s) might ease his separation anxiety. Regarding King Charles Health / Compassionate Care Issues: He does mark, at least some, and has no problem wearing a belly band. He should not be in a home where he must navigate a lot of steps due to his arthritis. He is currently being treated for skin issues which dont seem to bother him. He allows his foster mom to bathe him with his special shampoo and likes being cuddled after his bath. Despite advanced arthritis KC is happy and active. His overall health has stabilized but still needs close follow-up and management regarding liver/ gallbladder, potential renal / kidney issues. He is a great eater but needs a special diet due to slightly elevated liver values and his potential for urinary tract infections. He does a cute little dance in the kitchen while his Foster Mom prepares his food! King Charles is partially blind/deaf, so he needs a home that understands his challenges. He can hear and respond to some frequencies. He takes cues from his foster mom, understands clearly what hes being asked to do, and responds well to having a routine. He will signal to you when he needs something! KC has a few age-related challenges, but his foster mom says he really is the perfect dog. Someone is going to be incredibly lucky to be loved by King Charles!
