His story hasn’t been the easiest so far, but this sweet boy is ready to turn the page and start the happy chapter he deserves.<br/><br/>King originally came into a shelter down south as an owner surrender. While we don’t know exactly what life looked like before, we do know that when he arrived he was terrified and severely underweight. Our team brought him up here to give him a true second chance, and right now our top priority is helping him gain some healthy weight and strength, as he’s still quite thin.<br/><br/>Despite everything he’s been through, King has kept his gentle spirit. He absolutely adores people and is happiest when he’s close to his humans—whether that means soaking up pets or giving out affectionate kisses. He’s truly a loving, loyal boy who just wants to be part of a family.<br/><br/>Because of his past, sudden movements or loud noises can still startle him, but he’s learning every day that the world can be a safe place. With a patient, understanding home, his confidence will continue to grow.<br/><br/>King also enjoys spending time with other animals. He does well with other dogs and loves to run around outside with his canine friends. He has also done well around cats and kids. Since he’s still very skinny and may have had to compete for food before, he can resource guard his food from other animals right now. We believe this behavior will likely improve as he learns that meals will always come regularly and reliably.<br/><br/>The good news? King already has some great basics down! He is fully potty-trained and crate-trained. While he still needs to learn some basic manners, he’s extremely food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding for both him and his people.<br/><br/>King would thrive in just about any loving home that’s ready to give him patience, kindness, and lots of affection.
