King 's Story
Meet King!

King isn’t just handsome—he’s a whole personality in a tiny, 7-pound package. This 5-year-old Chihuahua/Miniature Poodle mix is equal parts loyal companion and sassy little character. He forms strong bonds with his people and thrives when he has “his person” nearby. Once you’re in his circle, you’ll quickly see his affectionate side—he loves giving and receiving attention and will happily soak up all the love you’re willing to offer.

King is also incredibly smart and eager to please. He enjoys working for treats and really shines when given structure and consistency. A predictable routine helps him feel safe and confident, and he responds beautifully when he knows what’s expected of him. He already knows commands like sit and recall, is doing great with crate training, and is about 85% potty trained. He’s currently working on “place” and continues to show how quickly he can learn when given guidance and encouragement.

Like many sensitive dogs, King does have some boundaries that his future family will need to respect. He prefers to eat without interruptions and does best when meals are given separately from other pets. He can be protective of his toys, but does well with a “trade” system. He’s also not a fan of harnesses being put on or taken off, and instead is much more comfortable using a slip leash. These quirks aren’t dealbreakers—they’re simply part of understanding King and helping him feel secure.

King came from a shelter environment that likely left him a bit overwhelmed, so building trust will take a little time. But with patience, love, and consistency, he truly blossoms into the goofy, sweet boy he is at heart. He would do best in an adult-only home with a fenced yard where he can feel safe and settled. He is good with other dogs (with proper feeding boundaries) and has done well with cats. King is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready to find a forever home that will give him the stability and devotion he deserves.

https://www.livefreerescue.com/adoption-application
