Kili *special needs*'s Story
Kili is about 4 years old, 17 pounds, and one of those dogs who completely changes the way you think about resilience.

He came to us from a very difficult situation where he was repeatedly attacked by another dog in his previous home. As a result, he lost both eyes and is now completely blind. Despite everything he has been through, Kili is still curious, social, and very much interested in life!

And honestly, he adapts faster than you'd expect. When he was fostered for a short time by one of our volunteers, he spent the first bit carefully mapping out the space, then confidently decided the coffee table was the perfect place to settle in! Once he learns an environment, he moves through it with surprising confidence.

Kili enjoys sleeping in bed with his people, staying close, and being part of daily routines. Because he relies on his other senses, he stays very tuned in to sounds, voices, and especially anything happening in the kitchen. If food is being prepared, Kili will be right at your heels waiting for his share!

He responds well to voice guidance and really enjoys being talked to and included. He's affectionate, calm, and happiest when he knows where his people are.

With other dogs, Kili does best with calm, mellow companions who aren't overly rough or chaotic. He prefers a steady, predictable environment where he can feel secure.

He would do best in a home where someone is around often, with a setup that is safe and easy to navigate for a blind dog. Once he learns his space, he does very well, but consistency is important for him.

Kili is different, but not in a way that limits him. He's in a way that makes you slow down and appreciate how adaptable dogs can be. He still wants connection, comfort, routine, and love just like any other dog. He's amazing!
